Serrapeptase ( systemic not digestive enzyme ) - Anybody use this ? How about the enteric coated version ?

i take an enzymes supp that has serratia peptidase (enteric coated) but i'm not sure if it's the same as serrapeptase (probably related).

it gets rid of the toxic tissue in your colon to make way for healing. sounds similar to what your supplement does.

Yep - same thing. Either this or the black cherry juice helped out a lot after what seemed like food poisoning set off a flare.

Not the most legit looking site but interesting... More of an advert. Cherry juice doesnt seem to be doin much for me, yet anyway..

My guess is inflamed necrotic intestinal tissue that is signaling more inflammation..

Aguywithuc, are you on the one a day maintenance of this now which accoring to the website shows? Are you planning on taking it regularily from here out? Also, I wonder if Old Mike tried this yet as it seems he tried just about everything..

No site, no program just got a bottle at Vitamin Cottage. He said people with GI inflammation always go to this bottle so I bought one. Taking it 3 times per day between meals. Also taking psyllium seed powder with VSL3DS and cherry concentrate as well as Ageless GI recovery.

This and the Cherry seemed to stop a sudden flare. I went from perfect poop to bloody flare, not sure if it is a flu, touch of food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Slowly getting better but the constant urgency is gone.

No never tried it. Nothing on pubmed about IBD, one or two articles about rat inflammation induced on

their paws by various substances.  Will be looking forward to your results for those who have tried it.

It has been big over in Europe, not much research done here. I have to like that it disrupts fibrin or fibrinogen which means it is anti-clotting.


It has been used for over 25 years with no side effects reported.
What things can I do to help with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (Crohn’s, Colitis)?

I've used that enzyme and I actually lost too much weight. Didn't do anything for my UC that I remember, or if I was flaring during that time. I did go through 2 bottles.

My poo smelled like the enzyme pretty strong. I'll have to check again what one specifically I was using.

It helps me but is a part of a complex of enzymes. Trimazyme is what I take. I believe strongly in proteolytic enzymes. There are several ideas about chrohns and UC but I subscribe to the bacteria theory and proteolytics not only digest necrotic tissue, ease inflammation, help strictures.. But they also dissolve the layers of mucus and waste where bacteria hide. Protoelytics can dissolve the cysts around things like Map bacteria, tgondii, other parasites, bacteria and such.. If you are still untreated I can track down some studies..

I used a ton of systemic enzymes (Vitalzym, Wobenzym, Serra) for my knee right before I got colitis and still wondering if it contributed to it. It might be helpful in clearing debree and inflammation but doesn't speed up the repair. Think about it as catabolic-anabolic pair of processes. If the former is faster than the latter, it doesn't result in a complete wound healing. You body must be ready to match it with its healing response. Refractory wound healing must be one of the culprits of colitis.
