Hey Guys,

Symptoms are coming back. Woo! Doc prescribed me Uceris and warned that most likely I'll be going to Remicade after that. What can I expect from Uceris?

I started taking it in March. It helped me alot, along with the 6MP. I did not get any side effects.

I think it'll help u in short term. I started taking it in July 2014 and it helped me and i am still on it along with Humira. i should ask my GI if i can stop it since i don't know if that or humira is helping me

uceris is a steroid, only the side effects are not as heavy as prednisone. it is more target to the colon, and it is form of Budesonide - not prednisone.

still, it is not meant for long term or indefinite use. and some here have reported it does not have as much "uumph" as prednisone.

Uceris did absolutely nothing for me. I was taken off of it after about a week because it escalated my abdominal cramping I was experiencing during my flare. It is typically only taken for up to 8 weeks because it is a steroid. It's also expensive if you don't have insurance. I looked on the paper the pharmacy gives you that says retail value and what you paid. I don't remember what I paid (probably like $20) but the retail value was over $1000 for a 30 day supply.

If he warns you'll most likely be going to remicade after, then you'll probably start remicade since uceris isn't a maintenance med.
