metharexate and entyvio

Excuse the spelling. I have a new key board and it does not like me.

Have been taking entyvio since 9/2014 with fairly good results. I have now developed joint pain with swollen joints to 2 finger and a knee. Went to a Rheu. yesterday and suggested methotrexate and folic acid for arthritis caused by my UC. I already had have osteoarthritis... Any other people taking that mix of drugs. Still on Prendisone 5mg daily.

UC is a hard item

I keep on seeing more and more patients on biologics experiencing joint pains that they did not have before the biologics and then the UC is blamed instead of the biologic. Seems awfully suspicious to me.

Gary, the difficulty is those with severe uc warranting biologics, are more prone to having extraintestinal immune issues (skin issues, joint issues, etc.). Our immune system attack is that bad. Does the biologic medication cause it? Odds are very low.

I'd ask rheumy to do a full diagnostic work up for you to be sure you aren't having paradoxical adverse effects of entyvio, as some of us have had with remicade (in my case anti-tnf induced lupus and polyneuropathy). Still recovering from it a year after stopping remicade...
Hope you feel better soon. I know what those pains can be like. (Can't write, hold coffee cup, turn door knob, let alone getting dressed etc.)

I had awful joint pain after my last infusion - 3 weeks after. It was very strange and I am hoping it was from stopping steroids and not from entyvio. I can tell you that i am stiffer generally when I wake up. I feel like i am elderly sometimes. I bet there are elderly people who get around better than me. I took mtx with remicade and I still had terrible joint pains.
