Infection?

I have been in a flare for 2 months now. I upped my lialda to 4 tabs a day, started budesonide and hydrocortisone enemas with no effect. Changed from UCERIS to Prednisone 20mg one week ago, continuing with the hydrocortisone enemas at bedtime and one 30mg hydrocortisone supp in the am. I have seen no improvement at all. I have never really had diarrhea, just mass amounts of blood and mucus. My dr seems to think I have an infection? I can't seem to find any infections other than cdiff associated with UC (and again, no loose stools). I'm starting to feel really hopeless. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

sounds like you are flaring. you will have tons of watery diarrhea with c diff. that is the main symptom. you need to be on stronger meds if those aren't working. 20 mg pred wont do anything for a flare. you need 40 mg which is the standard dose and some people need up to 60 mg.

That's what I have been reading but he is insisting that I have "an infection" and won't give me more pred until that is ruled out. It's so frustrating
