Hi All,
Wondering if anyone can help please. I posted on the Ostomy and Crohn's forum but this thread seems quite relevant and it sounds like some of you have had similar issues to what I am experiencing.
I have Crohn's disease. Had a pan-proctocolectomy with end ileostomy in September 2013 and have been going great. However, things have shifted around, and I now have a severely retroverted uterus.
This is causing pooling of my menstrual blood (I get random gushes of old dark blood and have to wear a sanitary pad all the time), as well as painful/unpleasant sex. I have been told it is nothing to worry about, and my latest pap smear was good, but as I am only in my mid 30s, it would be nice to have it fixed, especially if we decide to have children.
My gyno is currently looking into different options to prop the uterus back up and I am waiting to go for an MRI so they can get a better look at the architecture of what exactly is going on in there.
Peace&Harmony it sounds like you are experiencing the same thing? Have you been advised of any treatment options or suggestions to fix this? I am really worried about doing anything that may jeopardise my ostomy which is currently working very nicely!
Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Laura
