I was recently diagnosed with this disease so I'm fairly new to everything. It has been crazy having all these different medicines and having to still completely schooling. Thankfully I managed to complete my last semester while in the hospital. Having this disease is hard in general but worrying about
school and how I'm going to pay for school is just even more stressful. I was wondering if anyone knew of scholarships for college students with UC for the fall of 2015 that's dead lines have not passed yet?

What uc medications are you on, have you tried, how bad are your symptoms? Some have taken a semester off to focus on healing, if things are really bad. Uc and college can be done together, but I certainly understand the extra stress that brings.

There are a number of people on here who are currently or just recently finishing Uni with this disease, so we know what you are going through. With regard to scholarships, what country and province/state are you from?

I don't know all the dosages but I am currently on mesalamine, protonix, levbid, humira shots every 2 weeks, prednisone 40mg going down 10mg every week, Celebrex, and tizandine

I see, Im from Canada so I dont know about
American scholarships, but I gaurentee that the CCFA will have that information. You should also look into contacting your local CCFA chapter to see if they have info on state specific scholarships.
One thing I am concerned about
med wise is your prednisone tapering plan. How long have you been on 40 mg? Because if its been longer than 2-3 weeks, then coming down 10 mg/week is very drastic.

Ugh I'm so sorry
It stinks having uc in college
I was diagnosed with severe uc about
a month ago and I missed like 6 weeks of school ( I was sick for like a week and a half before I got my pcp to even see me)
Anyway you should make sure the administration is aware that you are sick and make sure that they accomadate you
Thankfully I go to a small college and all of my teachers are willing to work with me to make up my work. But if you ever have trouble your MD can give you a form to hand it that will require them to accomadate you - ask your doc as many patients have to get this to help them navigate policy's at work or school
Good luck and I hope you feel good real soon

I went through my apprenticeship with UC. I got bullied and laughed at by my peers and even my boss because I missed so much school and work and I wasn't the best in class. I sat there with cramps and all and ran to the toilet a lot. My boss gave me a list to fill out about
when, how long and why I'm absent from my desk, he expected me to sign it like a legal document and he KNEW it was mostly because I had to sh** my brains out, he had a doctors note! BUT I made it through and got my certificate and left this company and school with a smile.
