How many of you diagnosed with Yeast infection in blood?

I have visited a naturopathic doctor to do allergy test. After the test result, it turned out I have developed moderate allergy for eggs and mushrooms. She told me that I have yeast in my blood and I need to start Candida diet... is there any of you that knows about this or with yeast infection?

Yeah. Personally I think your naturopath is on the wrong track. I really question their knowledge. Everyone has yeast to some degree. I have to laugh at some ads on the internet that offer up Candida testing with supplements to sell if you test "positive". What thy conveniently don't tell you is that everyone tests positive because everyone has yeast. Having a bad yeast problem is actually quite rare but they do a good job of turning it into big business.

As far as food allergy blood testing goes, the tests are highly unreliable. The best way to get tested for food allergies is with the skin prick test by a real allergist. Your naturopath is stealing your money.

I wouldn't call someone closed minded for having a different opinion than you. If Gary's posts bother you then please use the ignore feature for him, rather than being insulting.

Juststud: I'm not closed minded at all. I actually went down this path myself at one point, thinking I had a yeast problem causing my UC. Did some treatments along these lines and notta. After a while and looking at all these fake ads and tests for Candida I realized that I was had. Even though a small few do have yeast problems it is a crock most of the time and I fell for it myself.

so how do the "few" determine they have a problem ?

so if only some have a problem, then the whole thing is a crock ?

seems only a few have a histamine problem ? crock too ?

Both blood tests (for IgM, IgG, and IgA antibodies), and stool tests, reveal some information. But they are not definitive. A qualified person needs to assess a patient by also understanding their history and symptoms.
Because of this, it is not something an insufficiently qualified person ought to be diagnosing, and not in that way.

ozzie - Assuming the your "naturopath" actually took a proper blood sample in the first place and the lab they sent your sample off to did in fact culture and identify "candida" from your blood sample then this is indicative of an infection that needs to be dealt with. Be it bacteria, yeast or other - anything cultured from blood shows you have a systemic infection that needs to be addressed.

That being said - I would encourage you to take the results of your blood test to your GI or most likely your primary care physician and ask to be formally tested by their lab instead of through your naturopath. Doing it this way ensures a) that yeast is in fact present in your blood and b) they will be able to identify the strain and provide information of what it is susceptible to. You can then begin to deal with the issue either by meds or by natural approach depending on the results. In any case at least this way you will know for sure by using a proper lab.

Sepsis is an example of a condition where yeast and bacteria are sampled for to help determine how to treat. So the labs and tests are readily available. Anyone taking immune suppressants, or certain steroids and antibiotics etc are open to yeast infections - but when found in the blood it is a little different that say "thrush" at the back of your throat.

I don't trust naturopaths to be honest... or the "labs" they may use. But that is just me. However there is no reason you can't verify the findings with a traditional lab to be 100% sure the results are correct.
