Over the last few days, every morning in the shower I realise I have new small red blistery spot. At first I thought these were mosquito bites... But clearly not.
There is no rash ... They are individual spots scattered everywhere... There is a small head (not pus as in pustule psoriasis) that if knocked, the spots become very sore, angry and inflammed. They are mildly itchy.
If they continue I will obvs go to a doc but my heart sinks. I never seem to go and hear the words 'oh it's nothing to worry about
' anymore. Every little thing turns into a big friggin' deal. So really just wanted heads up as to whether anyone else has had similar.
Thanks in advance.

Doesn't sound like a common skin condition for uc ir crohn's patients.

The only thing I notice is after a shower I tend to get itchy usually on my arms/shoulders it's only started happening the last couple of months and I don't know if it's related to my Humira or not, no rash or even bumps as you've described but it's weird, I haven't switched soaps or anything different but it just started happening out of the blue.

Thanks for the comments. Sudden realisation ... So went to docs. Yes I have chicken pox. Third time in my life ... Once as a child, once when just in azathioprine and now again. Just shows how hard it is to avoid infectious diseases when on biologics. Anti viral Meds given. Getting them a third time is frustrating enough but not as frustrating as the same old conversation '.... You can't get them once you've had them ...' Or ' ... If you get them as an adult it's always shingles ....' Arghhhh just had an evening these comments. At least I don't actually feel ill.

Awe Duffle, I'm sorry that's got to be painful :( I asked my GI for a shingles shot cuz I'm scared of getting it due to being on Humira and in general from my understanding anyone who's had chicken pox can get shingles when they're older and I'm older now and shingles is one of my biggest worries (among everything else under the sun lol) I hope you fare well, please keep us updated as to how it's going with it. I wish I had some advice to help but I don't know anything about
how to deal with shingles.

Take oatmeal baths
Just make sure the water isn't too hot or it will cook
Yuck
It's really soothing and even tho you don't feel ill you can be contagious so watch out
I hope they don't get itchy or painful

Thanks pb4. It's not shingles tho... It's simple chicken pox ... Like the childhood disease. Lots of spots... But as with that, I was infectious and felt rubbish last week before the spots appeared. So feel fine now ... If a little itchy. This is my first real Humira immunosup illness. Fingers crossed doc suggests I don't even have to suspend my Humira injections (the thought of stopping is really scary added with having to load again!).

Oh thank goodness, I don't know why I thought it was shingles, sorry. An adult friend of mine got chicken pox too she wasn't covered near as much as my kids were (she got it from my kids when they were little) and she had a harder time dealing with it compared to my kids....I bathed my kids in baking soda and use calamine lotion on them and they rarely ever scratched, I also gave them antihistamine every night before bed cuz I was so worried they'd scratch up a storm during sleep and be woken up by it.
Feel better soon!

I am on humira for my uc, when I got blisters and itching, went to derm dr and after 2 wks of anti-biotic and steroid creams with no results, I changed drs and found out I had another auto-immune disease called bullous pemphigoid and he put me on prednisone for the itching and blisters along with azathioprine. After 7 months I'm clear, just a lot of brown spots but still on prednisone and am being weaned off of it. If things don't get better for you Duffle, you may want to investigate pemphigoid, or go to a different derm dr.
