Normies (people without uc) often do not get uc. There's been many threads about it lol. Sucks it's your mom... Uc is an invisible disease, we look normal to everyone else, and they cannot see or understand our trials and tribulations.
You're pretty new at this, diagnosed the end of April. Time can help. People can react and cope to a new diagnosis in all sorts of ways, often it doesn't make much sense (denial, ignoring it, anger). My dear wife and I fought a lot after my initial diagnosis. It all settled down since, but it was a nightmare, uc + that.
We don't have control over your uc, but we do have control over what we tell others. If your mom isn't bring helpful then tell her as little as possible about your uc. As it sounds like she's not going to give you any sympathy, or assistance.
