Why is this? Haven't figured it out yet but since the stomach isn't effected during colitis flares why is it as soon as food hits my stomach I get cramps and have to go to the bathroom.. Is this normal for flaring UC members?

When someone eats, their brain sends signals to their digestive system to ramp up and start working harder. This seems to be more pronounced in UC patients. I hate to say this but it is possible that you may also have IBS, which is nerve damage in the colon, I believe caused by the same inflammation which causes your UC in the first place. There's really no way to tell if that is happening until you no longer have colon inflammation and yet you are still having problems. Hopefully your Remi and enemas will show progress soon and then you will have more knowledge about
your particular case.

When I am flaring badly, I have to go to the toilet before I even finish a meal. I won't even eat out in that state because I worry what will happen. It can be repeated BMs...

Yep very common. I had it with all my flares. I didn't eat out then either.

Basically, what goes in starts the process to move stuff out.
Antispasmodics can help, rectal meds, etc. When I'm about
to flare (or already in the minor stages), I'll have continual stomach pain and nausea. Once the butt spasms happen, that's the clincher for me.
I do go through phases of nausea for various reasons...often...but it's not directly related to flaring. Actually, food quells the nausea. Smells will make it worse.
Sucks either way.
Antispasmodics and Gravol Ginger products are my friend.

i still dont know if its safe for UC but if you take a librax 30 min to an hour before eating it will prevent this
it relaxes the muscles and reduces cramping (i found it also reduced my anxiety)

Are antispasmodics over counter or prescribed?

The act of chewing alone can cause this to happen, it doesn't even have to be food that you swallow to cause this to happen, chewing gum or a piece of candy can have the same results.
The mind-gut thing is often way over-looked unfortunately and when your bowels are messed up it's sure to mess with your mind as well.

Antispasmodics are prescribed. You should try them as they help many. Didn't do a darn thing for me though.

I hate that feeling - it's the worst. I have found that ginger tea (I like Yogi brand the best, the name is Digestion something. In an orange box!) really helps it - good luck. Hope you feel better soon!

Totally common. It happens to me even when I'm not flaring. I find it helpful to not drink liquids and eat at the same time. Fluids can increase the rate of digestion, gastric emptying, etc..

That also happens to me when I am flaring really bad. Sometimes I even have to take 2-3 toilet trips before I can finish the meal. It is just utterly annoying!!
