Difference in 5-ASA's

So I've been on both Mezavont and Asacol before. Both made me break out in horrible acne. I may give Pentasa a try and see what that does. Has anyone noticed a difference in side effects between different 5-asa? My doctor said it's worth a shot. I haven't been on any 5-asa in a few years and wanted to give them another go.

There's a slight difference in the delayed release coating in each oral meslamine pill. It's possible you had an allergic reaction to one of those. You could try an equivalent to meslamine without the coating, such as Colazal (balsalazide disodium).

Hmmm interesting! I've heard of Colazal but I didn't know that it didn't have the coating. I don't think it's available in Canada though, from what I can find online. Anyone in Canada have any experience with Colazal? Or has anyone had better success with Pentasa (in terms of less side effects)?
