I did watch the video that Iamcurious posted. It raised my eyebrows and made me question a few things. But I question more the allergy side from additives.
PS - It really is worth hearing what this gentleman has to say regardless of your standpoint. Everyone deserves to speak their side.
Also it hurts quite a bit to see/learn what these children go through.

One lesson you learn in life is whenever you have two people claiming vastly different versions of the same story; most often the answer is in the middle.
I've actually been thinking not about
adjuvants (so the mercury compound) common to vaccines in the US and abroad - but what they term as exipients. So what is used in manufacturing of vaccine and is present in the injections/oral compounds themselves. The list is pretty extensive on some of the vaccines.
There really has been a huge surge in "inflammatory" conditions in general and it does seem to mimic vaccinations at a glance.
So what are the chances that in young infants some of these compounds or additives to certain vaccines remaining from the manufacturing process are causing the immune system in a select few to respond? - or have a hyper response for one reason or another. Sort of prime them in a negative way.
Maybe it's time someone took a hard look at that aspect if they have not already.
In regards to vaccines maybe early and multiple administration of vaccines provide to many or to high levels on antigenic compounds and prime the immune system to "hate" and "attack" these from now on. Like egg, peanut proteins, etc etc. whatever is commonly used to produce vaccines. So not so much the mercury which has been used for a long time, but all the other stuff... Could be co-incidence though. Who knows.
In regards to IBD/IBS specifically I'd like to look around and see if there are more studies on anti-histamines and their effects. I'm super curious now.
------
There's a few on the board here who have children with autism and have mentioned all they read a lot of studies etc. So here is a few mentions of mast cells and Autism - which I can't help but wonder again if there has been any success in anti-histamine type drugs? Or if someone has tried this type of approach?
Some of these or perhaps all apply to us (with IBD) as well.
The "missing link" in autoimmunity and autism: extracellular mitochondrial components secreted from activated live mast cells: -

I posted these because I am asking the very same question about
IBD brought on by your DAO thread - Is it possible IBD is an allergy of the intestine? Brought on by damage/infection of our mucosal barrier.
