Humira didnt work AT ALL, so I am back on Remicade. Fortunately I wasnt off Remicade very long, so we just started where I left off, every 9 weeks. Doing much better already! Lialda helped, too.

I decided to travel across the country to my old doctor every 9 weeks, since I know it will be the most comfortable and economical to get the infusions in her office. Back with Remistart, too.

Good luck. If Remi was working before then why did you switch to Humira?

I'm new here, just joined today after having my colonoscopy this morning. Thinking of Remicade because Asacol HD doesn't do the trick. Looking for any advice anyone could give for remicade. I don't know how to add a signature yet, but 28 yo f dx 2002 and just can't seem to get myself back into remission for a long long time.

I tried to switch from Remicade to Humira because I started a new job away from home and away from my doctor during the week, and didnt want to have to take time off - and pay thousands - for infusions in the city. So now I am just going to take a long weekend every 9 weeks. I never tell my employers about my illness.

I would try rectal meds in addition to Asacol before jumping to Remicade. Also, it is a good idea to take an immunosupressant such as Imuran along with Remicade so that antibodies don't develop against the Remicade. Since Imuran is also a UC treatment all by itself then if the rectals and Asacol don't work I would start off with Imuran only and then only add the Remicade if the Imuran did not work. Imuran can take 2-3 months before it starts working.

Peety, I'm glad to hear that you figured out how to return to Remi treatment & keep your new job, too. Good luck with the 9-wk arrangement & please keep us posted on your situation. Remember that cupcake with 2-inch frosting that you told us about enjoying-- after you 1st got on remicade? I hope you'll be back in good enough shape soon to reindulge in desserts! / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I am doing much better already. I had pizza today! I think Lialda helped, too, although I was able to stop asacol eventually, before.

I do love cupcakes...

I suffered a long time, physically and emotionally, until Remicade. It healed me.

I had a flare up in June 2016 and was on Prednisone and Asacol. Straight to remission. Fast forward to February 2017, I had a really bad flare up. Had to get hospitalized for IV Prednisone. They got me in patient Remicade.... So far I have had 2 Infusions of remicade. I'm starting to have another flare up, even after the 2nd infusion of remicade. 3rd one is in 4 weeks.

Question - how long does it take until Remicade comes in? How do I know if it's not working? Please help sad
