I am usually a strong person and I don't let all these little things bother me much but everyone has a breaking point and just needs a pity party.
But my last blood test revealed that my red blood cells were enlarged again so I had to do a repeat blood test. Still large along with high triglycerides. during this time I had 13 flat warts removed off my legs, one the size of a dime (there were 4 in a cluster). Looked like I got into a fight with a porcupine. So I'm still healing from that and now I have an eye infection! I'm going to urgent care today.
So who is bringing the cake to my pity party?

I will bring cake-name your fave and I'll bake it up.
You have my sympathy/empathy-I'd say "chin-up, it'll get better" but I know sometimes just a big ol' GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR is what's needed

Sherry, when all else fails, I just sit down and cry. Careful where you do this, though. I did it in my doctor's office once and ended up on Zoloft. On a positive note, it has made me feel much better.
Sometimes just one small additional diagnosis is the straw that breaks the camel's back. I'm afraid to go to the doctor these days, seems like they always have another to give me. I guess if we're still able to complain all isn't lost, so vent away!
(Editing because something just occurred to me) My triglycerides went way up back after I was treated for Grave's disease, when I was hypothyroid. Despite thyroid treatment, they never came back down until I was treated specifically for the trigs. Could this be related to your recent thyroid issues, do you think?

You poor thing. It's bad enough having to deal with UC (even though it's in remission) but having all these other things is not fair!!! I just want to be free of seeing doctors.

Pity party is perfect! It's heartbreaking to hear you're going through such distressing time.
I agree with Judy....have a good cry! I had to laugh at the doc's response..lol.
To me, if what you had removed were actual warts, plus consistent eye infections as well wonky blood testing, maybe being on Remi isn't a good thing since it's lowered your immune system creating an environment for your body to go the other way of functioning.
Just a thought since you have to weigh the pros and cons and endless issues...new ones cropping up. I'm concerned because your body is telling you it's not coping well...compared to the mental and emotional strength you have.
hang tough...HUGE HUGS!

Thanks guys and even for the few chuckles :)
Well, went to urgent care. I have bacterial conjunctivitis and I'm on antibiotic eye drops. But no crying - it will hurt lol
Q - despite all these little things, I'm not ready to give up on Remicade. I'm getting a little taste of my UC returning these past couple days - abdominal cramping and D because I'm due for my infusion in a few days. I'm not willing to give up in fear of a relapse. My derm did tell me that the flat warts are due to possibly my lowered immune system. That my body is to busy fighting other stuff that the warts just took hold and spread.
Judy, my thyroid issues are in limbo at the moment. My levels are borderline high but not enough to warrant medication (according to my docs). And I just recently had my thyroid scanned for cyst monitoring. I don't know the results of that yet.

I had all kinds of crazy things happen when I was on Remicade. It trashed my immune system. I had the worst case of shingles that time.....I thought I would die it hurt so bad. It's funny....my mom has been on Remi for the past 9 years now for her RA and she never had any of the problems I had while I was on it. She's been very fortunate and I'm thankful for that since she's 83 yrs old now. When the elderly get sick it can get scary.
Hope it turns around for you so you get a break.

Hi Red_34!
What a bummer! The eye infections have been the strangest part of my own UC diagnosis -- they seem so completely unconnected to my colon, and yet it just reminds me that the human body is one amazing interconnected machine! Which leads me to ask... How are you doing? I hope that after you've eaten your cake, laughed, and enjoyed this impromptu party that you also find some time to take care of yourself today. Sounds like your body needs it and will thank you. Sending positive thoughts your way!

If there's cake, I'm in. We all need a pity party once in a while.

That stinks! Sorry you have to deal with that. We had a round of bacterial conjunctivitis go through our house one year that was so horrible. The only thing that got rid of it was vigamox and it costs a lot of money!
I get a planters wart on my heel every time I use cortenema for more than 2 weeks. Sorry you are getting warts in your legs.

Sorry you are having a rough week. When I need to vent and have a pity party, I usually treat myself to something nice. Go and do something or buy something you like. That usually gets my spirits back up. LOL Hope all gets better soon

God I know how you feel... Could be a well attended pity party! I just sat and cried yesterday ... You'll need some great entertainment to cheer us all up ππΈπ. Hope things improve for you soon.

I see a therapist that only treats IBD patients and she has a permanent invite to my pity party (which is really more of a rager - emphasis on the rage).
That super sucks. I have health problems besides UC (life-theatening genetic disease), and every time someone says, "When God closes a door, he
opens a window," I want to slap them. Like, shouldn't there be a limit to how much happens to a single person? A bad thing quota that can be met?
You're allowed to be pissed and sad and overwhelmed. Maybe do something just for yourself. Just an evening alone with Netflix and a bottle of wine can be helpful.

Should we have chocolate, vanilla or gluten free cake? :) or skip the cake and hit the bottle?
Yeah there should be a limit on how much we should have to deal with. My friends and family think I'm falling apart. Well yeah I guess I am but after so long it is what it is I suppose and some people don't understand that. For instance, me and my lady friends get together every once in a while for, as one of my friend call it, a gaggle fest. And I've had to miss the last 3 for various reasons. We were supposed to meet this morning but I can't make it yet again because of my eyes. Which btw, are even worse this morning even with the antibiotic drops. However, I finally got a good nights rest. :) I haven't been sleeping well for the past 3 nights which I'm sure added to my frustration.

Oh and btw, I am on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime every night :) I hide in my little cubby hole and watch shows or movies at night. My latest fave is Entourage lol

Have you seen The Human Experiment? It is a Netflix download. I don't want to give too much away but anyone with health problems will find it interesting (and make you a bit jaded toward pharmaceuticals).
And I hear ya about
not wanting to give up on the Remi. I am having some strange side effects too now that it is actually working and there's no way I want to go back to flaring. Far worse.

Sorry to hear that, Sherry! Hang in there! I've got some yucky skin "extras", too. One can get them w/o being immune-suppressed. Can your derm recommend a soap to use on legs that might help prevent warts? I've had a couple flat ones on thigh that finally wore off w/o treatment, leaving shiny spots on skin like a healed burn. Warts are so strange! I also get cherry angiomas. / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Chin up. I hope you're feeling better soon!
Everyone does have a breaking point and is entitled to vent some, or even a lot. Just let it all out!
I'd LOVE some cake too!

Cake... where? I hope it's chocolate cake with chocolate icing and chocolate chips...
Hang in there Sherry, sorry things are going rough for you lately. You're overdue for some good news, and odds are it's gotta break in your favor soon
