May be disgusting, but that's also 30,000 preventable deaths from c. diff every year given FMTs 94%+ efficacy rates. I think it will eventually have a 60-70%+ efficacy rate for UC in the future once they begin to refine the procedure and build a donor-base with super healthy flora.

I agree that it's disgusting but it's saving lives and in my books, that's wonderful. I (personally) don't relish someone else's poop - especially down my mouth through a tube - however a colonoscopy approach is a little more reasonable.

It is so disgusting that I'm seriously considering driving out to Boston and paying this guy true street value for his poo. I mean they make him take a train, walk and do all this for only $40? I will offer 4x that amount and will find him when it is ready.

I heard a radio story about this place a year or so ago. What a great think they are doing. Boston/Cambridge is full of bio startups that so wonderful research for all kinds of medical conditions.

Agreed. I understand it provides relief but not long term. I would also consider my daughters long before a complete strangers and the depicted public bathroom does not portray it very well.

Yes, the sensationalistic way this is presented is a bit disgusting. Could have done without the bathroom stall imagery too. Not very academic.

The actual treatment....well, I would hunt this man down and offer him my first born if his poop could cure my UC. (kidding about the first born.) If FMT is every approved to treat UC, I already have my "donors" lined up. There isn't any long term relief for UC (other than maybe surgery). Short term cure....sign me up.
