My rheumatologist put me on Mobic. He said in his experience, it was less likely to cause GI irritation and bleeding than most other NSAID's. I haven't had any problems with it, but then I never had problems with the Alleve I took for years before starting Mobic. I also have very painful neuropathy in my feet, so I have Tramadol to take when the Mobic isn't enough. I take it once or twice most days.
When we have pain with no obvious, demonstrable physical cause, we still press doctors for a diagnosis. Often we end up with multiple diagnoses, one from each doctor we see. I know I have inflammatory arthritis, I just don't know what's causing it. Since it started almost 15 years before I developed UC, I don't think it's that. Fibromyalgia has been suggested, but I don't have any consistent trigger points. X-rays don't look like osteoarthritis. RA blood tests are negative and I don't get redness, swelling or heat in the joints. So I'm left with "I'm just achey and sore all over."
