Daughter with uc

Sorry to hear your daughter has had so much trouble with uc. Has she tried biologic medications for uc (remicade, humira, simpini, or entvyio)? As those are the only uc medications tyat put me into remission.

I agree it sounds like she needs to go up the medication ladder.

I am sure remicade will get him into a good place. It sounds like you have a lot of options, try not to worry.

Sorry for you and your daughter. My daughter was also diagnosed at 19.
There is never a good time to get this diagnosis. It's difficult to be the mother of a 19 year old under healthy circumstances, add in a painful chronic disease and it's heart breaking like you said.

At 19 most people are not prepared to navigate the medical system alone. It's normal to want to know how she's doing and they don't like us asking. Let her know you want to be sure she's getting the best treatment for her situation. If she's not maybe you can help her find it. There is a lot to know! With the proper treatment there can be more good days,and without proper treatment it can be worse. Educate yourself, maybe you can go with her to her appointments to be sure she's getting proper care. Two years of bleeding is not good, the drs need to be involved here.

I don't know where you live, I'm in the U.S. and I immediately involved myself with a local chapter of the CCFA, they had parent support groups that were so helpful, I still meet up with them after 7 years. If that's not available to you maybe there is another organization with support groups for parents of kids with chronic diseases. Face book has a page for parents of kids with IBD. It's not a cure but it helps to connect with other parents.

It's definitely life changing, but you may be able to gain some strength for yourself by seeking support. This board is a good place to be, many of us are parents.
