Entyvio solo / without adding immunosuppressant

Looking for an update on this question, addressed on a few threads here a year ago after entyvio became available:

Some doctors are prescribing Entyvio with 6mp, Mtx, etc to reduce (delay) antibody formation, while others aren't. I can't take those immunosuppressants, so it's a moot point for me. But I'm curious - because I'd do Entyvio as mono therapy, and am hoping it'd help with induction and maintenance for a while.

Without concurrently using an immunosuppressant: Have antibodies to Entyvio developed more rapidly? (This was common for for some of us on Remicade.)

I also saw on a few profiles the use of tacromilus (?) (marauder? katmom pre-surgery?) -- possibly concurrently with Entyvio?
Wondering if it might make Entyvio either work more quickly for induction and/ or more effective for maintenance.

My doctor doesn't have many patients on Entyvio, and it's my last drug before considering surgery. I've been allergic to or had adverse effects from so many drugs, so not eager to add anything to the mix. Just want to set it up for best chance for success with Entyvio.

No need for them to prevent antibodies. The rate of antibody production is somewhere between 4-11% tops. If I were to use one, it would be for their efficacy, not their anti-antibody properties

I have been on Entyvio for10 months now
The only drug that was added was Benadryl to keep me from getting hives
The infusions only take 30 minutes
I call the infusion center one half hour before so they can mix the Entyvio for me
This drug is the only one that has given me my life back
It's not perfect but better than any other drug I was on turn

I never took anything with entyvio but unfortunately it did absolutely nothing for me. I didn't bother with cyclosporine. Too many side effects. I had a lot of problems with 6mp, I am sure tacro would have been a mess for me. My GI said entyvio works better to maintain than induce. I started it when I was almost 100% symptom free and it didn't keep me symptom free - people have all different experiences, no way to know how it will work for you. good luck!

Did you actually get hives from Entyvio? Has the Benadryl helped? I get a tightness in my throat and an allergic cough at the end of the infusion, and it can last up to an hour. It happened today, despite pre-meds of Benadryl, Claritin, and Tylenol. I haven't encountered anyone that had a reaction to Entyvio so far, though I know it's frequent with Remicade. I want to figure out how to quash this. We're going to try to slow down the infusion next time.

I don't know much about Entyvio so I can't help on this thread much, but just checking in to keep the support up for you.

I'm tapered down to two tramadol tablets a day from six. Managing better than I'd thought I would.

I hope you find balance again soon. :)

I haven't seen any studies showing that entvyio patients are less likely to form antibodies when concurrently on immunomodulators. Entvyio should be fully humanized, so antibody development rate should be very small. I do understand that some gastroenterologists are airing on the side of caution, saying here take immunomodulators just in case. As at a basic level, our bodies do attempt to develop antibodies to anything foreign within our bloodstream, and a suppressed immune system is less effective/efficient at that process. Generally, studies have shown introduction of immunomodulators and biologics concurrently produces the best results, as antibody development is likely most aggressive upon first exposure to a foreign agent.

Just a tiny correction - Entyvio is only "humanized" not fully human, meaning it still contains some mouse protein which gives it its immunogenicity

Tomorrow is my 3rd infusion of Entyvio, and i am already seeing improvement of my UC symptoms. I am not taking anything else besides Entyvio, so I am not sure if adding any immunosprresant will help. but entyvio really helped me get my life back, although it took around 2 months to show any effects. i hope it works for you too.
