That's good news, Totes! It's amazing what a large enough dose of prednisone can do. It's also good that your flare is mild because it should be easier to get under control with the right amount of medication.
From my past experience, I found it's better to be on a high dose of prednisone (40-50 mg) for a short time than it is to be on a middling dose of prednisone for a long time.
You shouldn't need to taper the prednisone because it should kill a lot of the inflammation by the time you get your Remicade infusion and stop nursing. Seven days is not long enough to require a taper for your adrenal glands. In fact, if you thought it was a little bit too soon to stop the prednisone, you could go to 10 days at 40 mg with no problems. That's what I would do but you should of course ask your doctor. I like that your doctor is open to suggestions. My doctor is like that and it's been so helpful to have a real partner.
Let us know. Don't stop the 40 mg of prednisone before the seven days is up even if you feel like you're at 100%.
Once you're through the breastfeeding, prednisone, and the next infusion, you should consider moving up to the large doses of curcumin. I really believe it helps keep me in remission and the nice thing about curcumin is when you start to flare you can increase it with no side effects and it doesn't interfere with any medications you might need during the flare.
Enjoy that little baby!
