No inflammation but persisting symptoms

I've been a member for around 6 months now and been a UCer since January. I'm completely desperate and need advice or many just encouragement. I was diagnosed in January after severe D had me losing 25 pounds in a matter of months then severe C followed with a bowel impaction. My UC was found in 3 different places once u had a colonoscopy, my rectum, cecum, and I believe left side. I've had blood almost the whole time and I consider myself still flaring. However, all of my recent tests have come back negative. I'm having constipation and diarrhea intermittently and blood and mucus with nearly every BM. Severe nausea has had me miserable on and off as well. I recently saw a new GI dr for the first time bc my last GI dr seemed to be satisfied with a clean colonoscopy, CT, and pill capsule test. If I had no symptoms I would be satisfied too, however, I am miserable as I have been flaring or having the same symptoms for a year. New GI dr has talked about doing a flex sig. And while I'm over testing, I want an answer! I'm starting to feel like this is all in my head. What would you do in my situation? I'm at a loss and definitely fill the hopelessness setting in.

I take only 4 Apriso a day. I think I'm flaring too but no test to confirm it. I feel a tiny bit better than when initially diagnosed! Thanks so much for your response.

Time to find a new GI. You are presenting with classic flare symptoms.
Your doc should be sympathetic and be working to investigate the best route of treatment. Not tell you it's all in your head. Wether it's hemmies or colonic bleeding you are in pain and need to be treated.
Try getting some zofran for the nausea so that you can keep hydrated.
Look into a low residue diet until you can see a GI

Go ahead and have the flex sig done. Maybe your new dr will see something your previous dr missed. I don't understand how you could have a clear colonoscopy and still have bleeding. How long ago was that done?

Sometimes I wonder how drs keep all those colonoscopies straight and don't get them mixed up. There's always a bunch of patients getting one done every time I have had one. Who knows? Maybe he did get you mixed up with someone else. If that is the case then someone else would have gotten your results and could be treated for a disease they don't even have! My 89 year old mother recently had a scope done (she had colon cancer about 10 years ago and this was just another followup) and the papers they gave to her were for someone else. So it does happen. (Her info was tracked down and everything was fine)

The exact same thing happened to me. Though it's still not quite resolved, the main problem was that I was mesalamine intolerant. When I started taking meds, I was flaring so badly that it was impossible to differentiate between flare symptoms and intolerance to my medication. My symptoms never got any better plus I was throwing up all the time (which is apparently uncommon with UC), but my colonoscopies and bloodwork gradually improved. My doctors couldn't figure it out and kept switching me from one mesalamine drug to another, then settled on blaming it on IBS. This went on for literal years, which sounds insane to me now.

Also, because I was on mesalamine drugs for years, it took weeks for them to be fully out of my system. I expected to improve immediately after I quit the drugs if they were what truly caused the problem. It was probably 4-6 weeks before I saw improvement.

Talk to your doctor about the possibility of medication intolerance. Also, if you're already allergic to sulfa drugs (like I am), apparently you're at increased risk for mesalamine intolerance.
