30th colonoscopy!

So my doctor came into the room in a good mood and said, "Isn't it a great day for a colonoscopy?!" (I love his sense of humor!)

I thought I might get a trophy for this my 30th, a gold "throne" or something, but...no. Sigh (lol.)

The quick report was that the right side looked great, the transverse was fine, showing only signs of old inflammation,and the left had a little inflammation. I always get a little late inflammation summer/early fall, roughly mid-August to mid-October, and that's usually when I get scoped. I have intended to move my scoping schedule to another time of year to confirm that it's quiescent other times. I hope life and insurance and all permit that for next time!

So for now, I will continue as I have been, and Doc and I will talk next week.

WOW 30? That is a whole lot of prepping you have done in your lifetime. My hat is off to you as you are going to top the 1,000 hour mark on prepping time, which equates to slightly over 7 miles of used toilet paper - based on UC math. With so many people in this world that have extreme anxiety over colonoscopies maybe you should write a hand book on the Art of Surviving your first colonoscopy.

Good to hear things are going well though.

But doing the math, that's once a year for almost 30 ? why so much ?

And awesome that your son is doing well. What is he doing right ?

ushipped, my first 2 years with UC I was flared up badly and ended up in the hospital twice, so I was scoped more than once for a few years. Then several years later I had an adenoma and was scoped twice that year. For the last 15 or so I've been on the "every year plan." Then 2 years ago my present GI told me he thought I could go 2 years.

My son. What a question. He was scoped in January and the GI said that he never would have believed there was any UC activity in there, though when he was in 8th grade his pancolitis was so bad his Doc recommended we take him out of school for the last semester of the year!
What does he do...? He stopped meds 3 years ago and he lives like any guy his age ought to. Now, whay that approach doesn't work for the rest of us, I don't know!

Bad: Eureka! I love the idea! A book! :-) Thanks for the chuckle! And... wow, that is a lot of TP.....lol

As a veteran of 40+ years of scopes, and one of the first ones who got the scopes in the late 70's when they became standard and safe, I always preferred my drs. old joke,

"how the hell did flowers get up here?"

to which your response always was,

"I don't know, read the freakin' card!"

Man, you figure at this point your colon is just like a highway-smoothed over and with no resistance for the camera xD

I have only had one and I absolutely hated the prep before hand. After 30 times does that bowel prep kit taste any less terrible?

the prep 40 years ago was a full bore enema over and over till it was clear...so yes, in a way, it DOES taste better!

Mars, I've been through several preps, but at this point all I need to do is put the container on the counter and I need to start running for the bathroom!

And Scott, gosh, I do remember my first sig, in an office, on my knees... yuck. I had UP and the doc passed by the inflamed area and didn't even see it - a GI later found it.

Good joke. I liked my doctor's humor, also:
Dr: Here, we need to give you a hot coca enema.
Patient: Ouch! Stop!
Dr: Is it too hot?
Pt: No, it's too sweet!
