son, addicted to chewing tobbaco

Hi, Been a long time since I have been on, anyway I am concerned about my son who has been chewing tobacco for 37 years and has tried different methods to quit. He says he has pain in stomach and teeth
are looking real bad. he knows the reality of his health if he keeps it up. He need some guidance and support . Any method out there that will work. He wants to quit, but says its hard. Thanks I will cheek back later. Thanks

I have one family member addicted to tobacco, who tried to quit multiple times and even after heart operation lit up a cig asap when discharged. I've read that quitting nicotine is harder than quitting heroin. It is hard to watch it happen but you cannot change them, the smoker has to want it badly enough to go through hell.

Talk to people who have done it successfully, they will be your best resource. Perhaps you can find a support group for you to talk with about how you will handle his health getting worse.

PS A different family member almost died when his artery burst, likely due to smoke damaged blood vessels. He barely survived but has to go back for a second open heart operation next week to repair other damaged areas. I think he has quit smoking but smoking damages multiple body parts. My father developed bladder cancer (smoking) and yesterday I talked to an ex-smoker I play sports with who has spots on lungs that will require radiation and chemo. It is all around us but people don't talk about it.

Turn him on to pipe smoking.
