Who knows. Odds are you're right and should probably stop, but it is an 8 week suggested course so for all you know, it might take some time to see results. I'll give you my experience with uceris, and you can use it however you'd like:
My first GI prescribed me uceris when lialda wasn't working for me. I stayed on it for the full 8 weeks just to see if it needed time to start working for me. It never worked. No side effects, but no benefits. In fact, I'm pretty sure it made me a little worse. In my opinion, I suspect it never released at the right spot for me. I have proctosigmoiditis and even though pills like lialda and uceris are designed to release in the colon, I just don't believe they're going to dissolve correctly for everyone, especially those with distal colitis. If you have distal colitis, your better bet will be a steroid enema IMO.
Regarding stopping uceris, one GI told me that I was fine to just stop, while another said 'yeah you're probably fine to stop cold, but I like my patients to taper a little just to be on the safe side.' See what your doctor says.
