Some items are common troublemakers for people with UC, including:
•alcohol
•caffeine
•carbonated drinks
•dairy products, if you’re lactose intolerant
•dried beans, peas, and legumes
•dried fruits
•foods that have sulfur or sulfate
•foods high in fiber
•meat
•nuts, crunchy nut butters
•popcorn
•products that have sorbitol (sugar-free gum and candies)
•raw fruits and vegetables
•refined sugar
•seeds
•spicy foods
The fact is that some people with healthy colons have problems with one or more of these foods/ingredients; it's not exclusive to IBD patients.
Most of us modify our diets when flaring badly to deal with the symptoms. That was not the question from the OP, it was that she drank when she was in college and wanted to know if she could drink while she is on Remicade. Obviously that is a question for her GI but the other 7 of the posters here drank while on Remicade.
