Prednisone and facial hair:(

I'm guessing you are a female. I am sorry this is happening to you. I am a guy and have bad acne due to Prednisone. I've been going to a dermatologist. I suggest you do the same. Seek professional help. They will understand.

The good news is it will all disappear after you're off of it. I remember having hairy knuckles from it. So attractive.

You can use a cream to remove the hair, it doesn't do anything to the hair follicles and other than smelling bad when you use it, it will help. It does grow back rather quickly, but if you are really unhappy with the facial hair this is a quick and painless way to get rid of it.

Waxing does not cause the hair to come back thicker. There is a hair follicle there, it will grow back whether you wax it or not. In fact, waxing over time can actually damage the hair follicle and cause it NOT to grow back. So go to cvs and wax away! (Sally Hansen makes both a creme and a wax that works.)

On a positive note....you will notice that your eyelashes get thicker on pred too. And then when you stop, you will shed. That part, not as much fun.

I got hair on my breasts from prednisone. Didn't think that was possible. Sooooooo attractive.

Have they given you another medication to get you off the predisone? That's the only way that you'll get the hair to stay away. You are almost on Pred for 6 months now, it's not good to be on it for too long.

Have you tried a biological like Remicade?

I am on humira and imuran now :) and slowly tapering off of the prednisone. My body doesn't respond to any other medication besides prednisone unfortunately :( but luckily it's done well with the Humira so far!

Prednisone made my hair awful on my face, haha. I sounded gross just saying that so I apologize, but it sounds like everyone has had the same problem. I had to wax ALL the time to keep it managed. Finally I bought some of those straight razors and I would shave when I didn't have the time/energy to wax.

I went really far out and bought a Tria laser, which would recommend, but you will probably be done with the pred and the hair growth will slow before you would have results from the laser. Might not be worth it to you to spend so much money on a laser anyway. It hurts bad too. I actually don't use mine enough. I am a big wuss. Actually this post has made me want to fire up my laser.
