Hi iPoop,
I phrased that incorrectly. I am starting to come to terms that I will be on medication for life but am mostly curious if it is worth looking into the 'lower' forms of medication before taking the big dive into biologicals or something like 6MP. Do you know why doctors are now starting to recommend humira/remicade before exploring other options? Is it a new fad?
Thanks
Great question! Who knows. The best thing to take away from this, is that it is extremely important to research UC yourself and to be your own advocate. It amazes me how many stories I've seen here of GI's barely touching the easy meds before going straight to biologics. I left my first GI because of that. After trying ONE mesalamine pill and ONE steroid pill, he said I should start thinking about
biologics. No rectal meds, no trying different brands, etc. When I started rowasa with my next doctor, my symptoms were gone the next day.
