Hello all,
I am new on the forum. I have been diagnosed 10years ago with UC. Two months ago I started having the worse flare ever. Lost 25lbs.I am now only 90lbs. And so much pain, D, loss of appetite. Just horrible.
I ended up in hospital and they found out I also had the C-difficile. So I am taking prednisone and remicade now. And they gave me antibiotics for the C-difficile. What an horrible bacteria. Wish I never got it.
Some posts earlier people were talking about the medication and I have always been against them and always avoiding them. I went in remission without them, watching what I eat but not following a strict diet. Maybe I was just lucky! Who knows. A scope this summer showed no inflammation at all... and now my colon is severely inflamed.
Every day at the hospital they were coming to talk to me about surgery and they were thinking to remove the whole colon if my situation kept getting worse....
So I was praying for remicade and prednisone to work and luckily things got a little better but very slowly and they gave me two doses of remicade in one week.
Blood test weren't showing the best results but they let me out of the hospital but we're very careful. (That was a couple days ago)
So with my experience I would say that medication can help but I don't want it to be a lifestyle. .. and remicade apparently is a drug to take for life and I won't!
I believe that we can heal ourselves with alrenative médecine and food and meditation.
But it is hard to manage all this and know what to do. There is so much info and products out there.
Currently I am taking so many supplements. Try to eat the right foods even though here I am still wondering how to do. Killing candida is important so I'll have to study it. I am taking ayurveda powders. I try to do meditation with videos on YouTube. I feel better than weeks earlier. Still pain but less intense and much less visits to the washroom. Still mucus and sometimes blood.

I would suggest you stay on the remicade. Our immune systems are our enemies with autoimmune disorders like ulcerative colitis (our bodies have turned against us). Your medications treat your symptoms but do not cure you. Stop those medications and your uc symptoms return.

Learning about going gluten-free from this forum has helped me immensely.
