Hello All,
I'm suffering with UC since 2006 and now I'm in remission.
Currently I'm taking 3/3 times of COLOZAL and Effexor 37.5mg/day
I'm 5'9" in height and weighing just 150 pounds.
I really want to put on some weight.
I appreciate if you all can suggest some food tips which helps to gain weight and doesn't effect UC and colon.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I have the same problem. 5ft 10ins and 110lbs was where I was at just before Xmas. But things have finally started to turn around and in the last month I have put on a staggering 10lbs. Only possible because I feel well for a change but I have simply focusesd on eating (a) three times a day and (b) high calorie food. I've also snacked... A lot!
I still don't have large portions, and I still love salads (leafy stuff is impossible to eat for me when ill) ... So I ensure plenty of salad dressing.
Now my weight is returning I can at last start to exercise (after all I don't want to simply gain fat but rather muscle). The key for me was getting enough energy back in my body.
Others may recommend specific special drinks. These may be good but I wanted to do it without. Good luck - people always mock the 'being too thin' situation which can be frustrating.

Stick to protein found in meats (assuming you are a meat eater), eggs (kept to a minimum) and milk (if you can tolerate). I would also suggest weight training atleast 30minutes a day.

More food and lots of it. An extra meal, bigger portions, lots of snacking. You get a free pass to eat like everyone else wishes they could

I eat 5 meals a day when I need to gain weight and I consume a lot of avocados and full fat yogurt.

yes, just eat more of what your body likes - but don't feed it crap just because it likes it

When I was trying to gain weight, I'd drink whole milk, have whole yogurt, and make homemade smoothies (whole milk, yogurt, peanut butter, sugar, and a banana in a blender). Pasta, bread, and other carbs are great for weight gain. Lot's of extra food = weight gain. Try to be health and not just eat potato chips and junk.

Thank you .. I'm eating good.. But most of the food is not getting digested/obsorbed properly and coming out in poo. I want food which can best tolerate the colon and helps to gain weight while we have UC in remission.
Thanks in advance

Resistant starches did for me exactly what you are asking for - they put weight on (not what I wanted, but you do) and are easily digested. What are resistant starches? You can google for a more complete list, but I ate a lot of mashed potatoes (any type of potato will do. Raw is great; I personally don't like raw potatoes, but cooked potatoes cooled down work too). Cooked pasta cooled down too. The cooling down part may sound unappetizing until you think about
potato salad, pasta salad, those are eaten cold and are palatable. You can put oils, butter, rich sauces (whatever your colon can tolerate) on these items to help with gaining weight.

Cook with a lot of butter and olive oil. Drink juice instead of water.
Make smoothies with peanut butter, whole milk, and banana.
Good quality ice cream without carrageenans
I would avoid ensure/boost as there are ingredients in there that bother many of us. But you can try if you like.

that's also my problem, i'm not skinny but when i eat even a little bit less i lose weight immediately. I try to eat as many bananas as possible. Today i made very simple banana pancakes:
smash 3 bananas with a blender
add 2 eggs and beat the mixture with a fork
add a pinch of salt
melt 3 tablespoons of ghee butter on a pan and fry small pancakes (flip them over only when they start getting "firmer")

take pasta and mix it with mayo and add spices it tastes good cold. if you are low on protein you can uses something like barilla protein plus
you can also make tuna casaerole with lots of cream and cheeses
(a really easy way to do that is boil a box of pasta, add 6 slices american cheese, 6 oz muenster cheese, can of cream of mushroom soup, tuna fish, and bake uncovered with breadcrumbs mixed with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top)

Breads
Pastas
Whey protein shakes
Ensure drinks
Lean meats/eggs
Milk
Cheeses
basically any high calorie foods that aren't junk food
I also have a smoothie every day with apple, avocado, blueberries, strawberries, greek yogurt, peanut butter, coconut oil, almond milk and honey. Sometimes cucumber, spinach or kale too, though those aren't great weight gainers but good nutrients.
Weight training to turn that food into muscle instead of fat. Eating too much pastas and breads without weight training can make you fat quite easily. Pass on the cardio, lift heavy weights, compound exercises.
