I need a general GI specialist in Chicago area

I have been having a lot of painful abdominal bloating, flatulence & abdominal distension/discomfort etc. for quite some time. I mentioned it to a primary care dr & he suggested IBS based on my symptoms. I am looking for a good general GI specialist who can do a full diagnosis & follow up treatment. I am in the Chicago area.

I searched this forum & came up with Dr. David Rubin but his office told me he doesn't treat IBS & that I should see a general GI doctor first because he's a super specialist.

I already have 1 recommendation for Dr. Dalal by an esteemed member here & I will call her office. Any other good general GI specialists?

I agree that if you tell them you are having bad GI symptoms they might see you. It's their job to decide if it's ibs or not.
For all you know it might be something else.

I see Dr. Rubin and he will most likely not see you. His nurses are specialized too and they only see diagnosed Crohns and UC patients. True that he is a super specialist. You may want to try Dr. Cohen who is also at University of Chicago.

SIBO can be a common issue for IBD patients, especially CD and J-poucher patients.

Tell them that you think that you have SIBO and that you need an appointment and want to get tested. It's a 90 minute breath test.
