what are some good remedies you use for cramping? Since Friday I've suffered cramps severe enough to drop me to my knees...some do feel like gas cramps as I'm able to pass some and it does make it a bit better but not all the time. I've been laying with a heating pad for most of the day..anything else you've found helpful? My GI is getting a call first thing in the morning. I had some bentyl but it didn't seem to help.

I wish I could give you some helpful tips but I got nothing. When you say some feel like gas I bet you are right. I get the same feeling and I say trapped gas. Hope you get some relief.

yeah I wish I could get the gas out every time I got one of the cramps but I cant...The pain is always in my center lower abdomen. When I don't have cramps I have the feeling like there is a 20lb weight on my stomach

Try ice instead of heat? Sometimes it actually works better, if you have inflammation.

I'll give the ice a shot and see what happens...the cramps are starting to become unbearable

When I get to this point of pain, that is when I go with the "other stuff". I'm not saying you should or should not try it but I will tell you, if it didn't help me.....I wouldn't be doing it.

I also had severe cramping last weekend. I used a heating pad, took some tylenol and tried calmly breathing when they started. It also helped to lie down flat. I called my GI and he has been treating me for C-diff since i have been on antibiotic 2 times in the last few months and also had diarreah 2 weeks ago. I started Flagyl and the cramping has stopped but not the diarreah. Hopefully you feel better soon.

I've had those painful gas cramps too. Awful! I take an otc gas reliever such as Gas-X, drink warm water and tuck my knees to my chest. It seems to help in the long run - even though at first, tucking your knees to your chest might hurt. But for intestinal cramping from Uc, I take Bentyl 20mgs, sometimes up to 3 times a day.

The last time I had that severe of cramping though, which was mainly situated on my right side I ended up going to the ER. I thought it might be my appendix or even an ovary - turned out that my whole colon was inflamed and ended up staying there for 3 days.

If the cramping continues, it is your body's way of telling you something isn't right. So if you need help, don't hesitate to contact your doctor or go to your ER.

If it happens to be spasms not gas have your gi rx Levsen or try enteric coated peppermint capsules

If you doctor is okay with taking immodium, then do so. That's what I'm taking right now for the cramps. Like another person on here, the bleeding and mucus have gone away but the cramping is the worst.

Does anyone have any suggestions for myself? Age 18 and currently getting cramps so bad I am almost sick. Can hardly put in a days work or anything. Fine when sitting driving for a while??

For gas pains, you can stay in Child pose for 5-10 minutes and that should help move some of the gas, easing the pain.

I usually try to have a small portion at dinner and have water and or peppermint or ginger tea, warm lemon when I wake up. Sometimes with the bloating and gas I'll keep pressing on the areas and moving it around and it'll help to break it up and come out. Sometimes if it's really bad and more up toward the chest area I just last on my stomach and try to go back to sleep.. Usually even take a sleep aid if I can't afford to be up all night. shakehead
