need help with Canadian Pharmacy please

I order Canasa from Northwest Pharmacy and have done this several times with no problems (I also have high deductible plan). However on the last 2 orders they no longer take credit cards and require a check which they do online (you don't have to snail mail a check). I'm not as happy using a check, prefer credit card but so far no problems. Expect a 2-3 week delivery (I'm in Florida) because it has to go through Customs.

I'd suggest shopping around CAD pharm prices because they are not all the same and also some charge more shipping than others. Northwest Phar. charges flat $10 per order so I order several boxes.

Search this forum for threads about CAD pharms because people have ordered from others too. It may be in the "sticky" threads at the top of this forum posts. If not it should be.

Finally, not all US meds are cheaper in Canada. Mesalamine enemas are not cheaper (if someone has found them cheaper let me know) and some other meds are same as US. Also some of the names are different in Canada so look into what Lialda is called there.

Another option is to use the manufacturer's savings card and fill your prescription in the US. There is a link to it on www.lialda.com.

Here's the fine print for how much you could save with their discount card. If you've recently filled a prescription, you could check with the pharmacy to see if they'd retroactively apply the savings for you.

With the Lialda® (mesalamine) Pharmacy Savings Card, eligible commercially insured and cash-paying patients can lower their out-of-pocket costs for Lialda prescriptions filled during the 2016 calendar year. After activation, commercially insured patients must pay the first $10 per monthly supply. After these patients pay the first $10, the maximum savings is up to $500 for the first three monthly fills and $120 per monthly fill for the remainder of the 2016 calendar year. Cash-paying patients will receive up to a $50 savings on the cost of their monthly prescription and will generally pay more than $10. This card is only valid on one prescription per month.

This program is good from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.

No discount will be allowed for prescription costs paid for entirely by insurance plans, or reimbursed, in whole or in part, under any federal or state health care programs, including Medicare or Medicaid, as well as any similar federal or state pharmaceutical assistance programs. Patient must be at least 18 years of age and a US resident to be eligible. Only valid at participating pharmacies. A valid Prescriber ID # is required on the prescription. Void where prohibited by law.

I'm not sure if that means they pay up to $500 for each of the first 3 prescriptions, or $500 total for the first 3 prescriptions. Since full price for 30 Lialda pills is more than $400, that would be an important difference.

A quick check of canadadrugs.com showed Lialda at 2.82/pill which is $84.60 for 30 pills plus shipping but you'd need to order 60 to get that price. If you order more it's slightly less per pill.

If Lialda is keeping you in remission you should keep taking it.
