No, it can't, not if you are are truly in remission as shown by: various inflammatory markers, endoscopy, biopsy analysis. There is no reason why somebody who has reached this hallowed state of being can't eat whatever they like, the usual caveat about
food intolerances aside.
It's also a mistake to think that diet somehow gets to the 'root cause' of IBD while meds don't. There is numerous evidence for Crohn's that diet only works in the short-term or for as long as the diet is maintained - it no more 'heals' the root causes of inflammation than Remicade does.
