New Member + Uceris Foam Availability

I have been a lurker on these forums for a few years now. Took the plunge and signed up today. Just a little background on me, I am 33 year old male, diagnosed in 2006 with severe ulcerative colitis. Lived in India most of my life.

Was in remission from 2010 to 2014 - (3600 mg Asacol + 125 MG Azathioprine). Moved to the US for my masters. Had my first flare in January 2015, responded well to prednisone (my doctor in India used to prescribe prednisolone which I had actually used for this flare as well)

Doctor in NYC put me on 3600 mg delzicol + 50 mg Azathioprine + allopurinol. Flared again in December 2015. This my my worst flare ever... :(

Had a colonoscopy in December 2015, everything seemed normal, most damage restricted to rectal area.

The problem now is that I am on 40 MG prednisone and still have 2-3 BM's a day :(.. Steroids always worked for me.. now they don't seem to..

Doctor prescribed Rowasa + Uceris foam to bring down inflammation, found Rowasa generic at Pharmacy (Rite-Aid), but the pharmacist said that Uceris foam is not available and that I would have to ask my doctor for an alternative.

I am unfamiliar with how pharmacies work in the US, but is it possible that a medication is not "available on the market", in New York City? Have any of you used Uceris foam? It seems to be a very new medication

I'm on Uceris foam. It is hard (!!) to find a pharmacy that can fill it. Walgreens ultimately filled my script after the drug rep for my GI helped me. CVS said they could not fill it. Make sure you get a Uceris savings card (the one for the pills works). It is very expensive but I paid $25 for 2 boxes (28 applicators per box).
