So now I'm REALLY confused. Last Tuesday (March 1st) I had 10mg of remicade, have been decreasing a prednisone taper (currently at 30mg), no blood and very little mucus (for about a week).

All of a sudden.....BAM I got my period yesterday morning. Yesterday everything was fine to an extent. Formed stool with a little bit of blood streaking on the outside.

Now today formed stool this morning with blood but this evening a lot of bloody mucus and stool is not as formed. Much more blood.

What is going on!?!? I don't get it!?!

My period always messes with my UC, so does ovulation. Big hormonal changes tend to set me off for a day or two. If you can hold off on tapering until your period ends, that might help.

Right now I'm still at 30 and don't go down for a few days. I'm going to use the cort enema tonight instead of the suppository to see if that helps. Otherwise I don't taper down for another 3 days and by then my period should be over. I really hope things go back to normal because things were finally starting to improve!

When I am flaring my periods make my UC so much worse. Hang in there! When I got my period while on Pred I was in the midst of tapering (well, several times since I was on it for 3+ months) and each time I had my period I held my dose for an extra day. I don't know how fast you are tapering, but I did better dropping by 5 mg than 10 as my dr originally prescribed. I called and got permission to change the rate of my taper.

I agree with everyone else.... My stools are all out of whack at that time of the month. Just par for the course I guess.

Stools are crazy for the normal female population while on their period, add in UC we get a double whammy. I used to get crazy symptoms when I had my period. That is pretty typical. If you do a search on HW for this you will find many women with IBD have issues with their cycles.

Tylenol does not cut it for my cramps ! Any suggestions ? I miss my Ibuprofen sooo much :0(

I end up taking ibuprofen for the cramps when they are super severe which mine tend to get. I haven't had a problem in doing so but I do know it is not something I would do often.
