Wisdom Teeth and UC

So I need to get my wisdom teeth out :(

I had a consultation with an oral surgeon and we went over everything, and he wants me to meet with my gi to ask if I can take Ibuprofen (I've been told not to, under any circumstances, several times) and if I can take antiobiotics (I've had c diff at least 4 confirmed times in the time span of 2 years). So, anyone have any experience having them removed with uc and taking ibuprofen and/or antibiotics? I'm worried about taking ibuprofen since I've been told not to several times, and I'm already flaring, but the oral surgeon told me that i will be in a lot of pain if I don't take it. I'm just concerned and just starting on entyvio and I don't want something else to worry about. TIA

I would think taking Ibuprofen, a NSAID which we're supposed to avoid, is a bad idea. Other pain pills are available, like percocet.

is there a certain amount of "urgency" in getting your teeth out ? can you delay 6 months to give your body time to be in a better place UC wise ?

Yes, you can't wait if they need to come out. You have no way to know how you'd be in 6 months.

Ibuprophen should be out...there are better and safer pain meds. I can't take codeine, but if you can, opt for t- 3 or t- 2.

You will need the antibiotics, but that concern is subjective. Absolutely use probiotics.

You'll definitely need a bit of time off work. ..keep us updated on how you are doing.

they can give you a long lasting dose of IV steroids that will help with the inflammation and than you can take old fashioned tylenol (or even tramadol if needed) for pain

I would advise to ice 20 min on and 20 min off for the first 24 hrs...
it prevents swelling and pain

the antibiotics are always a tricky thing
i didnt know i had UC when i had my wisdom teeth out so i did take amoxicillin
but no ibuprofen cuz i got a dose of iv steroids when they did the procedure

Both my boys had them out and they were given percocet and no antibiotics. I don't remember getting antibiotics with mine either but was given something with codeine. Ibuprofen isn't going to touch the pain after having all 4 done at once. That is almost laughable unless you have a super high tolerance for pain.
