Quick Update: IMPROVED!!!! :) I added Cortifoam daily and continued the Rowasa enema nightly (kept in all night) and Lialda orally and within a few days my flare started to improve. No more pain or cramping, no more blood or mucus, no more morning incontinence. I decreased the cortifoam to every other for a few days and now once a week, still using Rowasa and Lialda, and still holding strong. Also 1 week dairy free, almost no refined sugar and beginning to plan for grain free. Hope this helps someone else! <3
Obviously steroids are not a long term medication, but am I reading this right, you started tapering after 3 days? Purely personal, non-scientific opinion here: if you're in a flare, I suspect you need far more than 3 days of medication to heal the colon. Remember, just because your symptoms go away doesn't mean you're in remission and safe to get off medication. When I was flaring and started rowasa, the very next morning my symptoms were completely gone. Regardless I kept taking rowasa every night for about
three months before even entertaining the idea of tapering off. How long did your doctor recommend you take cortifoam?
