I know many of you have taken Flagyl so this question is for my daughter. She is on a 7 day course of Flagyl but she has a phobia of swallowing large pills. Is there an easier way for her to take it. She crushed it up and put it in applesauce but couldn't get over the flavor. I then read that's not a good idea! Any tips for her?

I would think that she might get the side-effect of a metallic taste if she crushed it up.

Maybe she can get smaller pills in a lower mg dose and take more pills to get to the correct dosage. The standard 250 mg pills I do not consider big but I'm used to taking pills.

Flagyl tastes so nasty, I take a sip of water, tilt my head back so the water runs to the back, then drop the pill into the water and immediately swallow. Occasionally I'll swallow some air and get hiccups, but it gets the pill down without the insanely bad taste.

i always have to brush my teeth after taking flagyl. it tastes so horrendous. the tongue scraper really helps, too. she could just use a pill cutter to make it smaller.

Well cutting it in quarters didn't help either. I'm not quite sure why the doc prescribe her this for a yeast infection when Diflucan would've been so much easier. Perhaps cost wise. But she has a phobia of swallowing pills and the nasty taste of Flagyl definitely doesn't help. So she is gonna nix it for now and just try Monistat.

Take it with Milk. That's how I always got down the chalky nasty type big horse pills. For many years I had trouble with pills. I have gotten so much better, had to really but do still occasionally gag on one.

My Flagyl 325 mgs are capsules, not pills. No chalky pills. I find the capsules are easier to swallow.
