Has Rifaximin got remission for crohns/colitis

My DD was in remission for one year after FMT. Now any number of FMT is not helping her and blood is coming every day. Our next option is remicade. Has anyone had good success with Rifaximin in getting and remaining in remission?

Is it a good idea to try Rifaximin before jumping to remicade?

YMMV. Antibiotics are more of a crohns treatment so you might get better replies on that forum.

I take antibiotics for my pouchitis and Xifaxan did not work very well for me. I do better on Cipro and Augmentin.

My best IBD medicine was Remicade, it worked great for me for almost 5 years until I developed antibodies. I chose not to take 6-mp/imuran with the Remicade because at the time there was some worries about cancer risks with the combination, now they know it is rarer than they originally thought. If I did the combo then I might not have developed antibodies as quickly to the Remicade.

if it were my case... i would try rifaximin to kill some bug which might have appeared during ft and then, after antibiotics, i'd return to fecal transplant but with a different donor

i don't remember where i read it (perhaps it was some Silvio Najt's article), that ft among family doesn't give such good results as from completely unrelated donors
