I woke up to pee in the night and my stomach hurt. 17 hours later it's still awful. I haven't experienced this with my UP before. It's above the belly button but below the front of the ribcage and just constant, all day. I've had the heat pack off and on intermittently all day. Is this the sort of thing I should go to emerg for?
(currently flaring and alternating pentasa and betnesol enemas at night, 2400 mg asacol tabs daily.)

i took a few T2s and they've helped. I never take painkillers so it literally doesn't even cross my mind. Hopefully tomorrow it will be gone..

It might be gas build up. If it continues or gets worse, you should get seen by a doc.

Thanks Sherry. I had a huge BM this morning so I was surprised I didn't get relief after that. Fingers crossed!!

We are at risk for pancreatitis. I've had it once before and the location is exactly as you describe. It was so bad I couldn't even tolerate buttoning my jeans because of the pressure it created. I waited about 20 hours before going to the ER because I knew something wasn't right. How are you feeling now?

Just woke up to pee again and still discomfort. It's not as severe but definitely still there

i would suggest upping your asacol to max daily dose (4800mg) if you are currently in a flare -

GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM IMMEDIATELY!!!

I had this kind of pain symptoms back in 2013 - turned out to be a micro perforation in my colon and I had early stages of sepsis. Doc said I was one or two days from dying if I would not have been treated... I remember lying in bed curled up in pain and sweats telling the wife.. of im ok I think I just have the flu or something. Better be safe than sorry. Its not worth gambling with your life...

Nearly 3 hours at ER and still waiting for the doctor. Decided it was better to be safe than sorry especially after hearing of your experiences.

Platinum pixie nailed it. Pancreatitis. Clear fluids and painkillers for 24h and if it doesn't improve than back to hospital for IV.

Wow, it's a good thing you went afterall. Did they say the cause? Medication-induced pancreatitis is also possible on all uc medications. It's possible it's unrelated as well...

He asked the usual questions, have you been drinking heavily etc.. But said pretty much they often don't know the cause the and rest of my blood work was perfect. I did introduce pentasa enemas within the last few weeks and my BMs have decreased significantly. I thought it was a good thing and now maybe not...

Glad to hear you went to the ER and got some relief. Be sure to closely monitor your symtoms and get back up there if you still have pain. I would follow up with Primary and GI doc asap as well. Good luck and God bless...

Thanks. I checked the possible side effects of the Pentasa enemas I started a few weeks ago and stomach pain and pancreatitis are one of them. Weird because I've used other 5ASA enemas for a much longer term without ill effects. Guess I need to see my GI sooner than my appointment which is still 11 days away.

All uc medications have pancreatitis mentioned, small risk but worth asking your gastroenterologist about. I'd call into the your gastroenterologist office tomorrow and mention your pancreatitis episode and ask if your medications could cause it. Small odds but, just the same better safe than sorry..

Definitely going to give them a call. Of course I think Monday's are his hospital day so he won't be there. I've already got a temp lined up for work so I don't have to go in tomorrow, I'm really hoping it's a short lived episode and I don't need a ton of time off. (Timing is awful - wedding in 46 days and a brand new condo ready for occupancy in 54 days - meaning I need all the money I can get :-/ )

oh wow...it's really good you went to the ER and found out what's going on. How exactly were you diagnosed?
Were you nauseated at all?

What will the IV be....fluids?
