Cause of hair loss

It takes a while for the dormant stage of hair growth to go back to normal. Do you see little hairs at the scalp...especially when the hair is wet? One thing to realise....a new hair is what pushes out a dormant hair. But it takes months for that hair to even reach an inch long on the scalp.

What supplements are you using? There are new supplements for supporting strong hair growth....priorin being one of them.

How are you eating?

Have you had your b vitamins, iron and vitamin d checked?

Hair loss is usually a consequence of low iron or low vitamin D levels within the body. Blood tests will help you determine if you're low on one or both.

Thanks very much for all the advice. I have low calcium and probably low Vitamin D at the moment after the high steroid use. I'm now properly steroid resistant. Off for a colonoscopy on Friday (yippee!) but will look into the supplements, Quincy. I think I've had hair loss before but not as bad as it is now. Going to the hairdresser tomorrow so may get it cut a bit to look less thin. The side effects from withdrawal have been endless and I remember each one as it rolls in even 2 months after I've finished the course. I hate that drug….Cx

I'm seeing my hairdresser today so hopefully she can take a close look. Hope it's not the azathioprine! I'm sure I have had hair loss before when withdrawing from steroids, though not as dramatic as this! Thanks very much for the advice. Cxxx

C Rose, have your iron and vit d levels checked (blood test), that is the likely cause of your hairloss. It'll start growing back if you correct that issue.
