Dear all, I'm back on Uceris because I started flaring. However, the first morning was so bad that I had to take lomotil (anti-diarrheal) also. Will this slow the uceris from reaching the colon? Thanks and all the best, Teacher

It willl make its way through since its enteric coated and will release throughout the colon based on how it's intended.

Can you use enemas rather than suppositories or in conjunction with supps to help the rectal healing?

I'm assuming you'll only be using the lomotil for a short while.

Thanks, Quincy. Both lomotil & uceris are in pill form. I'd asked for a suppository/rectal foam, but the gastro thought it was unnecessary. It's been day 3 and I think I'll still need the lomotil. I don't suppose it's good for long term bowel movement recovery. Hope the uceris kicks in soon. It's tough having to teach with the flare and the terror of an accident.

Uceris is PH coated and will release once it reaches the right area of the digestive tract. No worries.

Skipping morning caffeine and breakfast can make mornings are easier during the interim. As caffeine and eating can stimulate bowel movements in some. Steroids such as uceris can take a week or more to work in some. Some even report that uceris isn't strong enough, and they ultimately needed much stronger prednisone doses. Just things to keep in mind, should you not have a good response within several weeks. I hope it kicks in fast for you!

I would push for the rectal enemas.....flaring always includes the rectum. Why do some gastros say crap like that?

If you have any canasa...use them twice daily at least.
