Dark black/ purple after night of canasa

Why is my mucus dark black or purple after a night or day with canasa? After all that passes, then my stool comes out normal color?

I love canasa two a day helps me feel less "urgent"

Is it ok to use two a day and how bad is it for you long term?

The medication itself turns purple -- my mesalamine enemas often look purple-ish when they come out, unless they're so mixed with poop that I really don't see them.

I don't see any real harm in using two canasa/day.

It can turn purple when it's mixed with more than just itself, meaning any secretions such as a bit of mucus or liquidy stool.

Two a day is a low dosage..good they help you.  Just make sure the doc writes your prescription stating up to two per day, so that you get refills without any problems.

I know this is from a long time ago, just wanted to double check.

I have been using salofalk enemas for a month or two now and today was the first time I experienced what seemed to be very dark purple/black mucous on wiping.

Of course I am worried it is old blood, but on reading this, it sounds like it could be enema? And I have just never noticed it before?

I will obviously pay attention over the next few days and see, but just wanted to clarify, that for some people dark purple-y black is a "normal" part of an enema?
