I had a three step procedure. I thought step 2 was similar to step one so far as the condition I was in afterwards. I wasn't in any more pain after the 2nd step compared to the 1st, in fact, i think the pain level was lower for me. I don't really remember, but I remember getting out of the hospital after 3 days. Step 1, I was stuck there with a drain tube. I could have left, but it was too inconvenient to go back and forth. Step 1 was really rough on me, I remember while I was in the hospital, the first night or two, I said I didn't think I could continue on to getting the second step. I was a little bit nuts and irrational at that time. After 3 months with the ileo, I felt strong and ready. Step 2 wasn't easy, but I was so much more prepared, I knew what to expect from having gone through the first step. Once I got home with my loop, I saw the ugly side of things. I went from having this perfect stoma that was no trouble at all, to having this awful loop that was impossible to manage. It was a challenge every single day with my loop. Thankfully it was only 8 weeks. I think I got mine reversed after 7 weeks, managed to schedule on the first possible day to get rid of the loop ASAP. It was just too difficult. I was using tons of products and still needed to change at least once a day. I really hit the limit of my patience with that loop.
I wrote a really long descript
ion of my procedures. I hope it helps you
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=38&m=3569886Now I am living with my jpouch and today I consciously am trying to only use the toilet when I need to. I haven't gone much at all. I've gone 2x. It definitely takes some getting used to because you go more often, but you can go when you want. Similar to the ileo, the more you eat, the more you empty. It also takes quite some time to get to your final result. For me, it has been so worth it. I am thankful every single day to be free of illness.
