Question about urgency

This is something I started to wonder after looking up different kinds of exercises in web after starting to work out. One day I saw and article about benefits of kegel exercises and it made me wonder; is there an exercise we can do to strengthen our what-ever-muscles that let us hold our crap? I was doing quite good for a while and out of a sudden, during my time in my homeland when I stopped administering enemas because I slept at the balcony, urgency strikes back! guess I couldn't even hold it for 5 minutes after hear my gut's demand to see his lover, Toiletta! I was outside and there was an accident. I said; "whatever, no need to get sad about it, it hadn't happened in a long while." and the next day, it happened again! Is there anything I can do to extend the duration I can do it? Because bumping my fist in my arse sure as hell didn't help!

I'm laughing while writing this because I kinda feel like I have to but this is serious question nevertheless, lol.

Kegels are meant to exercise the pelvic floor and vaginal wall. The way these exercises are done are to prepare for childbirth and better sex. Do a google on kegel exercises and you will get the details:

These exercises are more oriented to what you are suggesting which is your "back plumbing", But as mentioned in the previous post, strengthening your sphincter will sledom help, urgency is transmitted from your intestines to your colon, that is where the problems are coming from, once diarreah gets to your rectum: game over. It is the inside inflamation that is causing this problem so focus on the underlying disease.

I feel that mucus has a nature of breaking through anything which is in its path. When I have urgency I often poop mucus only. Mucus/puss is the reason why fistulas form because it's trying to find a way out and it digs through soft tissue to tunnel its way out. There is no way of stopping it except for stopping the inflammation itself.

May sound silly, but when I was having serious urgency issues, I was seemingly able to gain a little more time to reach the bathroom using sheer mental power. On my speed walk to the bathroom, I would repeat to myself some variation of "You're OK", "You're almost there", and/or "You're going to make it" (in my head, not out loud, but do whatever works). I also made fists and dug my fingernails into my palms, and the pain seemed to distract my body from the bathroom urgency. I also carried in my purse backup items including underwear and wipes which gave me a little peace of mind in case I did have an accident.

Hope that helps. I'm glad I'm not in quite that bad of state anymore, but it's only thanks to taking terrifying amounts of prednisone.

Weird thing is, like everything with this disease, urgency is so inconsistent. Sometimes when I feel the need to visit the bathroom I can hold it for a long time, like half an hour or even 45 minutes. This mostly happens when I'm in a class and it's some kind of an obsession for me, to not leave before the class ends. I really, really hate to leave when teacher is still speaking. I just sit there, endure the pain and run to the bathroom when teacher says "let's take a break." But if urgency strikes when I'm on the road, then God help me. it's much harder to hold it in but still, it usually takes much longer than five minutes before I can't hold it anymore. Last two times were different, just around five minutes. It's so annoying, being caught off guard and not being able to do anything.

Yes, panic poops happen. Controlling the underlying fears and anxieties that trigger them though is incredibly difficult. It's like a runaway freight train, sometimes once it starts. All you can do is just hang on cuz it's going to be one hell of a ride, and possibly a photo-finish :-(
