I had my infusion two weeks ago on a Monday. By Friday, my eyes were so red, swollen and itchy, I had to go to the doc bc I thought I had an infection. Neither of us thought it was pink eye but she gave me antibiotic drops just to try. Two days later it was worse, so I went back and she thinks something like allergies just kicked in.
The thing is, I've never had allergies at any time in my life- never. She said its prob just something in the environment that sparked a reCtion. Since last week I've been using eye drops for allergies and it's not helping at all. I'm on over the counter allergy med, benedryl, and eye drops and I'm about
to run my eyes out. I even popped a blood vessel last Fri bc they wouldn't stop itching.
My mom thinks it might be a side effect but I don't think so. She wants me to cal my doc. Do you think I should? Could it be a reaction?
I made an appt with an optomiestrist for two days from today but it's horrible. I work at a college and it's painful to meet with students. I just don't know what to do.

I get horribly itchy eyes from alleges. Not sure which eye drops you are using but I use an antihistamine one called Kelotifen Fumarate. You can buy it over the counter but it's not easy to find, I buy mine at my Kaiser pharmacy. I'm sure you could find it online though. It's pretty effective, as it's an antihistamine, not an antibiotic. I think until recently, you had to get a scrip for it but now you can just buy it. It's around 7 bucks.

If you are going to somebody to diagnose the eye condition, please make sure it is an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. Optometrists primarily deal with glasses and aren't as familiar with eye diseases as ophthalmologist.
You may have uveitis or iritis which is sometimes associated with IBD. Treatment for those, I think, are steroid eye drops.
