I am LONDON Didi, I posted a question regarding flu and UC and the use of Mesalazine enemas, and by mistake in answering a a reply to me i pressed ignore. I am so sorry as would never do that and now can't reply to the post which was kindly sent to me. I think I was asked for the dosage of my enema which is Salofalk 2g. I am really sorry to however I was inavertedly rude to.

No worries, it's easy for you to fix. Click My Profile and then Edit Ignored Users. You can then remove whomever it was.

P.S. Nobody knows who is on your personal Ignored User List. It's private, so don't worry. Nobody was insulted. Nobody found it rude :-)

Fun fact, my parrotlet once ignored a user on healingwell. I always post using my cellphone, and he likes to perch on the top edge of my phone. Occasionally he pecks at links and, err well, even that ignore button that one time too lol. He's young and therefore inherently tech-savy, I guess. I forget who it was or what the post was about, but apparently it offended his delicate bird sensitivities or pride (was somebody posting about their cute cat's latest antics?).

Thanks zengrrl, yeah I think we talked about parrotletts once before. Parrotletts (or pocket parrots) have all of the character of a big parrot in a more manageable funsize, so there's less of a mess to cleanup after. He's a little 38 gram ball of color and feathers who's about 4.5 inches long. So, they're much easier to handle than big parrots are (in his case pick himup in two cupped hands) and put him back in his cage when he unexpectedly gets belligerent (parrots aren't really domesticated, so can get randomly mean and act like winged devils throwing tantrums and biting). Most of the time, they're funny little acrobats climbing and flying, who are very clingy, and want to be the center of your attention all of the time.

There's a YouTube channel, called Peekaboo Parrots, with lots of videos of parrotletts doing they're usual antics, One of her parrotletts, Koolaid, is an exceptional talker. Here's a link to one of them: /youtu.be/JNSaDo2qGWg

OMG they are so smart! And funny! I did a quick search for one within 50 miles and none were available. I definitely want a rescue and will continue to search. I know they live long and that's another reason I would like to rescue, because I won't. Hopefully I can find a senior! Thanks for the link to Peekaboo Parots, Koolaid is hilarious!

They're lifespan is about 12 years, which is kinda short for a parrot. Mine's 2.5 years old, and I adopted him at around 11 months old from my local humane society. I think the adoption fee was $20.

Zen, another fun small parrot is a Conure. Just like a Parrotlette, they have a crazy and fun personality. They are loud but they learn very quickly, especially the males. My Conure has a vocabulary of about 50 words. He also mimics sneezes, the dog barking and the doorbell. My Conure is bonded to me and he loves to snuggle under my ear, under my hair and he whispers in my ear lol His lifespan is 45-80 years. I just love Parrots of any form. My dream is to own an Amazon but I don't have the room unfortunately.

Conures are beautiful also, thanks Sherry. But far too long lived--there is a shelter in NW Washington that keeps older birds, maybe I will contact them and see if they have a companion for me.

FYI. Parrots that are previously bonded to an owner (adoptions) can be an extra challenge, especially for a first time parrot owner. In the natural world, a parrot pairs for life and they tend to choose an owner as their bond. Should they loose their mate (or bonded owner) then they can be feather-pluckers and have additional disorders/challenges, and anxieties as a consequence of that separation. So, they'll require carefulness and patience when handling and caring for them. Just something to be aware of with bigger parrots, and things to ask: like is he a plucker?

My parrotlet isn't bonded to either me or my wife. He's funny in that he plays favorite for a short timeperiod. For example, in the AM might be all about me and ignore the wife completely, and it'll be the exact opposite later on. He's nice to us both. On the flipside, a parrot who's bonded to it's owner will only be nice to their chosen bond, often will be aggressive to all others, and protective of their bond. The bigger the parrot the more pronounced that is. The large parrots are so pretty but I'm unsure I could manage one.

Conures are a heck of a lot smarter, so therefore a lot easier to teach things. Loud, yes. Sun conures in particular can scream at 100 decibels or more (making neighbors angry lol). Small conures might not be as bad in those regards (the smaller ones are the easiest). Certain conure species are bigger, louder, or require more care.

Just make sure you understand what you're getting into regarding noise, mess, and potential anxieties/troubles of larger owner bonded parrots. As that's why so darn many parrots end up going for adoption in the first place: they can be a lot of trouble.

John is very correct about bonded Conures, however, if you provide love and attention to an abandoned Conure and NEVER shy away from their bite, they can bond to you as well. They learn that biting can keep a person away but once they know that biting has no effect on you, they will accept you. My Conure (Jake) wasn't quick to bond to me. I'm not quite sure how old he was when I got him but I guess less than a year. He would bite the crap out of me! After reading tons of sites and books on Conures, I never shied from his bites. He learned the word NO very quickly lol But after he realized I wasn't there to hurt him, he accepted me and bonded to me. I've now had him for 13 years.
