Even non-UC people can get travelers diarrhea, it's very common. If you had any ice cubes in drinks or tap water that is the likely source. Shows how different locales can have different bacteria that is friendly to local guts and unfriendly to tourist guts.
Or yes it could be food poisoning, a bit more serious. I just saw a posting of a female comedian, Amy Schuler, who got food poisoning in Paris (with her boyfriend) and ended up at the hospital.
With sensiitve guts we UC'ers have a higher potential for problems. Keep drinking bottled water, don't drink anything with ice cubes. There's a reason people drink beer (I can't). Dehydration is a big risk so go to the hospital if you start feeling that sick. You could get tested for fecal bacteria but you'll probably be home by the time the results come back. Oh, also don't eat fruit that you haven't peeled yourself. Everything that has been washed in local water could be a source of contamination for you.
Good luck.
