Stopping humira for ankle surgery?

Hi, I haven't been on Healing Well for a while because things have been pretty good with my UC. However, I'm now getting ready for surgery to my ankle and from what the dr has said, I have to be off of Humira (which I've taken religiously for 4 yrs--every 2 wks). He said I must be off for 8 wks, which means 4 injections. My gastro dr is out of town til Monday, 9/19, and just in case, I did not take my shot yesterday, but I don't know what I'm doing to my UC. I know if I eat the wrong food, or over eat, I'll have what is lovingly called "a flare up" so, I start popping Immodium.

Can anyone tell me, what would be the effect if I'm off of Humira for 8 wks? Or, even just 1 wk?

I take 4 Lialda, daily; yogurt with VSL#3DS daily and 1 align capsule a day...all to keep the good bacteria healthy in my gut. Right now, I'm also taking an anti-biotic Ceflex for UTI and Flagyl to avoid Cdiff.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks for the input, my dr will be back in 3 days and I've asked the surgeon for my ankle to talk to him.

Thanks for the input, hope your surgery goes well. The prospect of a flare up is more of a worry for me than slow healing, I'll discuss with both drs. Thanks again

You know, it's heart warming to know there are people out there who understand the challenges of UC and can sympathize with the motto: "Never again will you think it's 'just gas'".
