I was in the hospital for a big flare up, received IV steroids and put on 100mg. of 6mp. I didn't take my birth control in the hospital for I wanna say 4 days and started my period. I should've started a new pack but instead I doubled/tripled up until I was back where I was. (big mistake I already know) well I just wanted my period to stop. Now I finished my sugar pills and I haven't gotten my period. Yes I'm sexually active. Do you think that my body is just confused from all these medicines and maybe from screwing up my birth control that's why I haven't gotten it? I feel crampy and have period symptoms so I am sorta confused. Is this normal side effects of heavy medications like this? thank you.

I don't think you're pregnant if that's what you're worrying about, the steroids can definately mess you up. I didn't have a period for about 2 months after I came off steroids.
Take a pregnancy test if you're really worried

Flares can mess with your normal menstruation cycle, in some cases. It's possible to skip a period when you're especially ill and malnourished (and if you were hospitalized then it was a pretty severe flare). That said, it's not a guarantee that is your case, especially if you've been sexually active during the last month. I'd get a pregnancy test to be absolutely sure. They're inexpensive and quick and then you know for sure. Good luck, I hope you soon get your flare under control.

I would contact your doctor for a pregnancy test. They're so easy and quick that it's definitely worth checking out. You're most likely not pregnant, but you should just double check to avoid any more health complications.

Like iPoop said below, UC messes with our periods big time. I know that every time I have my period -- flaring or not -- I get weird symptoms. Extra cramping, more trips to the bathroom, weird discharge.

Also -- I was put on 120mg of steroids in the hospital last Saturday and the only side effect I had was anxiety/panic attacks. I don't know what other sorts of side effects come with it. It's probably different for everyone.
