Moving up the meds....

I'm so frustrated.

Just had a colonoscopy, three weeks into Prednisone on this current flare up.

Current left sided moderate.

I was then told clearly immuran isn't working anymore( went on it last year, had my longest time without a flare up) so he wants me to think about Renicade, Humors or there are 3 clinical trials he will send me info on here in Roanoke.

I feel like I'm jumping through meds awfully fast here. I was diagnosed at the end of 2013 and every fall whatever I'm on just stops working completely.

I'm looking for another GI as discussed in previous posts, but I've been through 3 and the place I'm going now is the big medical center for our area.

I feel so down. I'm about to turn 33. I'd like to be long lived like the rest of my family and not have surgery by the time I'm 40.

I see a functional medicine doctor the first of November to look more into good sensitivities and such. But I'm not so stupid to think I dont need my meds considering my track record. I just can't believe I've gone from healthy ( very healthy eater/exerciser too) to needing biologics and clinical trials in less than 3 years.

Yeah. I started on lialda and Prednisone, stayed on lialda though I think was never full in remission on it. Went on a round of uceris which worked for a little while, then didn't the second time. Last year switched to this guy in the middle of a flare, and did Prednisone and immuran. Faded off prefer quickly and beautifully. Then August rolls around and surprise!!! Pred is only working a little right now. There's improvement but not much...at the same time it's certainly not the worst flare I've been in.

I think I'm going to take one more day off of work and hide in bed until I can see reason and calm.

I'm glad surgery was a good option for you. I always gravitate towards the worst what ifs...just a bad habit of mine.

I hope you're able to get into remission without surgery. Just to say though, I was 33 when I had my first surgery (to remove my colon and give me an end-ileostomy, which completely transformed my life for the better), and 34 when I had the stoma reversed and my j-pouch fitted. The surgeries have given me my life back - I'm UC-free and med-free, and feel the healthiest I have since my early 20s.
